Take control of contacts and groups

December 22nd, 2006 by Shashank
  • Buxfer now allows deletion of contacts and groups that you no longer interact with. Such contacts and groups will not be shown by default. However, we don’t want you to accidentally delete a contact or a group that owes you money or gets money from you (don’t forget your debts :-) So, deletion is permanent only if you have a zero balance with the group or contact. Otherwise, you can restore the deleted contact or group.
  • The groups that you hang out with change over time. Buxfer now allows more control over group membership. Suppose John can no longer make it to the bridge club, but new members Sarah and Jessica can. John can either leave the “bridge club” group, or ask the moderator to delete him from the “bridge club” group. The moderator can add Sarah and Jessica to the group.
  • After a lot of thought, we finally decided to allow users to create “dummy” contacts. A dummy contact is a contact which has no associated email address (everything else is the same). You can add a dummy contact by just entering a name for your friend. There are two use-cases which convinced us of the utility of this feature: firstly, John may like to track expenses with Tom without informing him - he may be socially uncomfortable doing so. Secondly, many a times, there is a single “most responsible person” in the group who keeps track of all group expenses, and others are lazy enough to not bother. In such a case, the responsible person can create dummy accounts for all the other members.

Finally, we love hearing from you. So we have made submitting feedback even easier. Tell us about what you like about Buxfer, what you hate about it, and what Buxfer should do to make tracking expenses even simpler.

    Hi,

I was wondering, we can search for buxfer account holder using an email id. If i have an annoying friend or a spammer, how do i block him from posting transactions to my buxfer account?
