More “bulk” actions: change group and settlements

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Yet another of those commonly requested features is now available. You can now change the group of a set of shared expenses - useful when you or your house-mates forget to apply a group to some of the transactions.

You can also settle a bunch of transactions in one fell swoop.

Hope this will make manipulating shared transactions much easier!

Multiple accounts are here!

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

We have finally added support for multiple accounts and account balances within Buxfer. Now, you can segregate your expenses into different accounts - e.g., bank, credit-cards, etc. By default, all your expenses and incomes are logged into a “Cash account”. You can also move around transactions between various accounts to your heart’s wish. With each account, you can also see the associated balance (income - expense) which allows you to quickly understand how much money you have left in your coffers.

A thank you is in order for a lot of our patient users. This has been a feature demanded from quite some time. We apologize for taking so long to bring this feature to you. Hopefully, we will do a much better job from now on. So please keep your suggestions flooding in.

Trend chart and performance improvements

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

By popular demand, the trend line chart is back! In addition, you can view the trend lines for individual categories unlike in the previous incarnation. Enjoy!

We also made some performance improvements which should help Internet Explorer users considerably.

Update [19 Aug 4:07PM PST]: IE7 is working well, but IE6 is still suffering from some performance problems. We are working on this. Meanwhile, IE6 users: please consider switching to Firefox :)

Update [20 Aug 10:15AM PST]: Major problems (crashes) with IE6 have been resolved. We will keep optimizing until IE6 starts feeling very snappy.

Buxfer + Amazon = Settle your debts online!

Friday, August 3rd, 2007
It’s a pleasure to announce that starting today, Buxfer will provide the facility to make online payments for users in the United States. Buxfer now supports Amazon Payments and lets you send and receive money from your friends right from your Buxfer account.
What are the benefits?
  • Settle your debts online; never write a check again
  • No more excuses for your friends to not pay up on time
  • Track all your expenses — debts as well as settlements — at one convenient location
Is it safe?
  • Absolutely! Payments are processed with Amazon Payments, and are guaranteed to be secure
  • Your financial information stays safe with Amazon, and is NEVER made available to Buxfer
But how much does it cost? … Its FREE!

Could it get any better? :)

One of the key benefits of using Amazon Payments is the ability to accrue balances in an online account (similar to your Paypal account balance). Transfers involving Amazon accounts are instantaneously processed, which means no waiting for the funds to arrive at the other end!

Amazon has released a fantastic platform here and we are proud to be their launch partners. Money transfer as a web service is tremendously powerful, and we’re sure there will be a lot more applications utilizing this very soon.
