Buxfer Dashboard widget for Mac OS X
August 30th, 2008 by ShashankWe know you guys have been demanding this for a long time, and now your demands have been met. Not by us, though! One of our users, Bruno Lopes, has created an excellent Mac OS Dashboard widget to add transactions quickly to Buxfer. It uses Buxfer’s REST API to get the job done. The widget is simple, performs one task and performs it exceptionally well - in true Mac fashion.
Bruno has written a blog entry about it as well. Check it out and leave your feedback.
Thanks a lot, Bruno for this initiative!

Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope people find it useful.
I’ve took it a bit further and placed the source code up on google code ( http://code.google.com/p/dashboardbuxfersubmit/ ).
I’m thinking of perhaps whipping out one or two companion widgets to track expenses or budgets, but for the moment, this fits my bill.
Let’s see what happens next.

Has Buxfer ever thought about using a claymation demo reel to enhance the users ease of using the Buxfer system? Making it simple and focused for the user to understand. http://www.claytorial.com
I feel this would point things out clearly, I have seen similar videos on Twitter and Google

Buxfer is the best website for recording passed expense, but bad to explore incoming finance plan. :s

I left a comment on Bruno’s blog. The widget is great (and indeed, an ideal use case for a widget).
Unfortunately there is an encoding issue somewhere between OSX, the widget, and Buxfer.
One of my tags is “privé”, and when I use the widget to input a transaction, that tag gets mangled into “priv”.
It would be good if buxfer could manage to parse various encodings thrown at it.
