Sync with ANZ bank, account groups, hiding inactive accounts and multiple currencies
September 9th, 2009 by ShashankFolks,
The blog has been quiet for a while, but that’s only because we have been working hard to release new features, fix issues and make the site work better for all of you. Over the last three months, we have addressed the following issues:
- We have added support for automatic synchronization with ANZ New Zealand, First Premier Credit Cards, Orchard Credit Card. We have also fixed several sync issues with CapitalOne, TD BankNorth, USECU, and more.
- You can group accounts into categories (checking, saving, credit card) and see a sub-total for each type. Simply click on an account and edit it’s type
- We have provided a very sophisticated interface for navigating long lists of transactions. You can click on a page number of jump to any particular page you wish by entering a page number. No more clicking on tiny arrows :)
- We have expanded user profile information for providing better targeted services. E.g., based on your zipcode/location information, we are able to provide more accurate automatic categorization
- You can delete accounts which have been closed or are no longer in use without deleting the transactions within that account. Just delete the account as you normally would, and you will get a prompt asking you whether you want to delete the transactions within that account as well
- Easier editing of budgets: you can choose whether your edits should apply to the current month only, or all previous months
- Easier deletion of automatic rules: you can choose whether the rule should be deleted from past transactions it was applied to or not
- For those using accounts with multiple currencies, currency conversion rate is automatically pulled from online sources. However, this rate is used only when the account is created. Once created, the rate stays static unless you change it manually
We are busy working on the next round of updates. Stay tuned!

“Easier deletion of automatic rules: you can choose whether the rule should be deleted from past transactions it was applied to or not”
It should also be applicable while adding automatic rules.

Is buxfer still active?
No answers from the support team, no answers to the forum, no blog posts…
Do we need to export all our data and look for an alternate web?
Thanks

I am using Buxfer with synchronization with ANZ accounts and it works really well. You can read a review of Buxfer along with other budgeting tools that work with New Zealand banks here:

Is Buxfer still being developed or has it stagnated?

It is unfortunate, but it appears that Buxfer has died. I don’t think that there are any employees left–just computers, accepting our credit card information and funneling it to the government or something.
In all seriousness, backup your data before their internet provider realizes that they haven’t been paid in 4 months and yanks the plug.

Anybody know any alternative as good as this one?
May 28th, 2010 at 9:46 pm
darkpollo, you can try mint.com but I still prefer buxfer. Any other alternatives?

Yes, mint is nice. I’ve been using Yodlee, but it doesn’t have a lookahead feature (actually, I’m pretty unhappy with it — except that it does manage to collect data well).
I used to use Mvelopes, which would have been OK if only it helped me set budgets (for example, by providing reports) — instead it only enforces budgets, which is worse than useless when one doesn’t know what one’s spending.
Sigh… there are NO good online financial apps. I could complain for pages about Buxfer… I use it, but it’s also sadly lacking. I’ve wanted to write my own, but with my workload that’ll never happen.

I wanted to upgrade my buxfer account and received errors. Filled help ticket. It was two weeks ago…
No answer since.

i really like buxfer and would hate to know it’s become some kind of zombie app.
¿any one there?

Buxfer forum and blog are silent! Why? Has development stopped?
