Easier and safer login with your Google account

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Today, Google announced its move towards single sign-on by supporting OpenID based authentication for all its users.

But we already supported logging in with Google accounts, so what’s new? Well, we asked you to share your Google account password with us, and we would then send it over to Google to verify your credentials. That required you to trust us that we would not do anything bad with your Google password. The new authentication system solves this trust issue. Once you choose to login with your Google account, you are redirected to Google’s website, and your authentication is entirely handled by Google. We never get to see it!

A warm welcome to Windows Live users!

If you have a Windows Live account, you can simply use it to login on Buxfer. No need to fill out signup forms or remember yet another password. We already support logging in with Google, Yahoo, Facebook, AOL, and OpenID accounts, but after receiving numerous requests from users, we quickly added Windows Live to the list. Just click the icon on the home page!
