A new set of features …

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

We have been receiving lots of feature requests from our users, and tonight we released some of the most in-demand ones.

  • Download transaction history: You can now download all (or some) of your transactions in a CSV format. After all, it is your data.
  • Delete contacts: Deletion of contacts with whom you have no shared transactions has been enabled.
  • Delete groups and group members: It is also possible to delete groups with no transactions, or members who are not involved in any transaction within a group.
  • Track amount paid: You can now easily see what is the amount you paid in each transaction - extremely convenient for verifying that you have reported all transactions appearing in your credit card statements on Buxfer.

You will also notice many small changes here and there, which we hope will add up to a much richer and enjoyable experience for you.

We love to hear from our users, that’s what keeps us going. So please keep sending in your comments, and be assured that we are working tirelessly to give you exactly what you need!

Yahoo!

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

People have been really happy about our integration with Facebook’s login mechanism, so we thought why not let them use their Yahoo accounts too!

Buxfer now allows you to login using your Yahoo account and password. As with Facebook, your account information is processed *ENTIRELY* by Yahoo, and Buxfer does not get to see one bit of it. So you have the convenience of not having to fill out a registration form, and at the same time not worry about the safety of your private information. How much better can it get?

More details can be found at our help page.

A new and improved Buxfer

Friday, October 27th, 2006

At Buxfer, we are focused on keeping the site simple and usable. We have re-designed the home page to make it more informative to a wandering newbie. It includes examples of how Buxfer can be useful for you. It also contains testimonials from users who have simply fallen in love with Buxfer. Thank you for your feedback and support, we hope it continues the same way!

The goodies don’t stop at the home page. Throughout the site, we have replaced dull text with expressive icons. In response to many of your requests, we also now allow you to delete contacts with whom you have no shared transactions.

Last but not the least, we have revamped the full transaction view to provide you exactly the information you seek. The page carries a short description of the transaction in simple English, which is easier to read and understand. Kudos to our design team for getting it right, we hope that you will love it too!

As always, we are waiting for your feedback. Just drop us a note whenever you feel like.

The past two weeks have seen a large spurt in activity on Buxfer, with the number of registered users as well as reported transactions more than doubling! Thank you all for your overwhelming response. Thanks especially to those who gave us honest feedback on what we did right and what me missed. We hope the site is as fun and useful for you as it has been for us.

Help us spread the word about Buxfer. Let those who still use ‘pen and paper’ for managing their shared expenses see the light :). Post information about Buxfer on your school’s or company’s bulletin board. You can also use the following icon on your webpage or blog:

Buxfer opens its registration

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Buxfer is growing in leaps and bounds, with a lot of new users wanting to sign up. This meant that we had to do away with the manual approval process, and open up Buxfer for free registration. Yes, now anyone and everyone can signup for FREE!

At Buxfer, we take security seriously. The site now runs on HTTPS, which means that all communication with our server is encrypted and can’t be intercepted by a third person.

Happy and safe Buxfering!

Buxfer beta

Monday, August 21st, 2006

Today marks another important milestone in Buxfer’s exciting development. We launched Buxfer beta today, which features a much improved interface to enter and view transactions, and a more convenient way to use groups. You can also now add notes to a transaction, and edit an existing transaction.

To keep the number of users at a manageable level, we have made Buxfer “invite-only” for now. If you want to try Buxfer, you can sign-up on the Buxfer index page. Unless you are an intelligent bot, we will send you an invite within 24 hours.

Happy Buxfering!!
