Budgets let you control your expenses and plan your savings. You can set weekly, monthly and yearly limits on specific expense categories, and receive alerts whenever you exceed those limits.
What does "Rollover" mean and how does it work?
For certain budgets, you might want to "rollover" your balances from one period to the next. For example, you might want to spend more on eating out this month if you did not eat out enough last month.
Let's say you have a budget with a limit of $100 and spend only $75, then $25 rolls over and your limit for the next month would be $125. Similarly, if you spend $120, then the next month leaves you with a limit of $80.
When budgets are rolled over, you can specify which date to start the rollover from. Buxfer will automatically rollover positive or negative balances from one period to the next thereafter.
Why are some of my transactions not being tallied in the related budget category?
Budgets only include transactions of the following types:
Other transactions are not counted towards your spending, in budgets as well as reports.
Can I exclude certain transactions/accounts from my Reports and Budgets?
Buxfer does not support excluding transactions or accounts from Reports/Budgets. Excluding data can sometimes cause confusion and not lead you to see a complete view of your finances.
If you wish that a certain transaction not be counted as an expense, please edit it and change it's type to a "Transfer". Transfers only affect your Net Worth, and are not counted as expenses for reporting and budgeting purposes.
